Just in time for summer, we are stocking the new popsicle maker set by Zoku. It works like a modern ice cream machine; you keep the non-electric quick pop maker in the freezer and then make pops whenever the mood strikes. Pops freeze in 7-9 minutes, just pour in juice and watch it freeze. Add fruit slices, candy, nuts, or make stripes with yogurt for a one-of-a-kind pop! We have a tool kit, pop storage container, and a quick pop recipe book available also. This super-cool set is a perfect remedy for our North State summer heat!

At our Show N’ Shine last Tuesday (for Kool April Nights) we raffled off two cooking classes as a fundraiser for the Wounded Warrior Project. (For more information on how to get involved with this wonderful organization, visit their web page: www.woundedwarriorproject.org) That day we also had a pressure cooking and canning class with Chef Pam. We offered our raffle tickets to the participants and a student in the class, Deborah Baldwin-Pulcini donated and won the raffle! She and husband Joseph Pulcini will be taking a cooking class in the future. Deborah recently visited Disneyland and during the Retiring of the Colors ceremony the crowd was asked if there were any veterans present as they like to honor any vets present. Since Deborah’s “semi-son,” John Joy is in the Air Force in Balad, Iraq, she had the couple’s photo taken with the color guard and posted the it on facebook which is easily visited by the soldiers. We’re happy to report that due to everyone’s generous donations, we are sending the Wounded Warrior Project a check for $100!
It’s electric! It bakes 8 mini cupcakes in 5-8 minutes! It’s pink! It’s the cutest electric gadget we’ve gotten in is quite some time. Priced at 39.99, it’s a very cool thing for Grandma or Mom to do with the kids and would be very fun at a children’s birthday party. It comes with a little cookbook with some interesting ideas, not all cupcake-related, such as one and two crust mini pies and savory appetizers. We think it’s pretty fun for little and big bakers!

It’s been so nice to see the sun, after so much rain! It’s going to a beautiful summer. We are getting geared up for the outdoor season by receiving a big Lodge cast iron cookware shipment in readiness for our Dutch Oven cooking class, Saturday, April 9th. Those taking the class receive a discount of 10 percent off everything (except electrics) the day of the class. The class fee is fifty dollars and there are still some spaces available. Shari ordered some new Lodge pieces that we haven’t had before so if you are a cast iron fan (like we are!) come in soon for best selection of cool Lodge cast iron.
